About South Park
South Park in Mecklenburg County, district of Charlotte, N.C., shines with a bright future, even while in the shadow of Uptown Charlotte. South Park, NC is located on the south end of Charlotte, centered at the intersection of Fairview and Sharon Road. Although South Park is part of the greater Charlotte area, it has developed its own identity as a complete neighborhood for working, living and having fun. Some of the characteristics which make South Park so desirable for home buyers include: a moderately high density of office space, an exciting selection of high-end housing, and excellent shopping opportunities.
South Park Mall is considered one of the premier retail centers of the state. It is complemented by several, smaller South Park shopping areas, including Phillips Place, Sharon Corners, Morrocroft Village and Specialty Shops of the Park. The South Park District also hosts the Charlotte Symphony’s Summer Pops concerts; the free evening concerts bring the community together every summer at a local amphitheater.
Other nearby recreational sites include the Harris YMCA, the greenways at McMullen and Lower McAlpine Creek and county parks such as Park Road Park. Families will also appreciate South Park’s educational opportunities. From kindergarten through high school, students may enter the public school system (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools) or attend one of several private schools. As well, several institutions within the immediate area offer post-high school programs, including public and private universities and community colleges.
